My First Tutorial!...in case you missed it!

Hey there! I hope you all have had a wonderful Wednesday! I am here to share my FIRST video tutorial!! EEEKK!! How exciting, right?! I originally posted this on The Primary Pack, but due to some technical issues the video didn't work for some people. SOOO...in case you missed it....

Here is my video tutorial on creating a google form to manage your bathroom checkout system using a QR code! It's pretty nifty...and you can probably use it for anything your heart desires! So...check it out and let me know what you think! (please tell me if it doesn't work...like...asap...just leave a comment and I'll get it on my phone).

I give you....My tutorial!

I hope you enjoyed that tutorial! Please let me know if you have any questions about using QR codes or if this makes a difference in your classroom!

December Currently!

Hey there! I'm here to link-up with Farley for her December Currently! Oh my...DECEMBER?!?! what?! For real?! My goodness...I can't believe it's December!

Anyways...Let's get rollin' with this month's currently!

Listening- My fiancĂ© came to spend the night with me since he has the day off tomorrow and he found "Dogs with Jobs" on Netflix.  It's making me want to save all the dogs and take them home!

Loving- I love this time of year! Not because of the bone chilling cold, but because I get to buy gifts for people! If I had unlimited funds I would totally buy gifts for people on a day to day basis...ya know, like Oprah! Who doesn't want to be Oprah?!

Thinking- I am so very blessed.  I have an amazing man that I get to marry in June. I have a loving family that is always there for me. I have brilliant friends who are only a phone call away "just to chat" AND I have all of YOU! Yes, YOU guys! When I started this whole blog/creating journey I never thought I would "meet" so many amazing people....I really thought I would never find anyone who wanted to read what I had to say! I'm just some girl from Nebraska with a twisted sense of humor...who wants to read that?!...apparently you guys do (bless your souls)...so thank you for reading my blog, liking the millions of pictures I take of my dog on Instagram and giving me a boost of confidence when I need it. You all are truly a blessing!

Wanting- To be healthy! This has multiple meanings for me right now. 1) I have recently come to the conclusion that "being skinny" doesn't mean that I am healthy.  This whole wedding diet really had me down in the dumps for awhile...and I was fearing I would never look the way I wanted to look in my wedding dress, but I've come to the conclusion that that isn't the case at all. If I take care of myself and eat healthy foods (that don't taste like cardboard) I can look awesome on my wedding day no matter what! I may not be SKINNY, but honey...I've got curves and I'm gonna rock 'em!

2) It seems as though every break I have I end up getting this really gross mucus bomb of a cold. The past three days I have been talking like a man, coughing up large mucus balls (those really pretty green ones) and clearing the throat constantly like the old guy in the back of church on Sundays. I'm sounding really hot right now folks.  I still need to get my flu shot, but with my body fighting this mucus war right now I don't know if I should go get it...it might take me down for the count ( I always feel a bit awful after I get my flu shot...am I the only one?)

Needing- Mucinex...I think you can figure out why I would be needing this right now! I won't paint any more snot filled pictures for you :)

Giving- Some love!

I want you to know (yes, you reading this post right now) that I am so very thankful for you! I am humbled to have you as a colleague in this glorious profession and I hope you know that you are loved. You make a difference each and every day ...even on those really bad days...you are making a difference. So, in the upcoming weeks when you want to fight the alarm and burrow deeper into those warm sheets, remember that there are children in your school that need YOU. They need your warm hugs, your bright smile, your words of encouragement and someone in their life that they know will care for them. It will be hard, but you can do it!

Phew...I hope that little pep talk helped! I have to remind myself of those things each and everyday...especially during the month of December...I have quite a few kiddos who lives get kind of rough around this time of year.

Now...I also wanted to share this amazing song that I am obsessed with...enjoy a few minutes of pure bliss!

ahhhhh....isn't that beautiful?! Oh, I could listen to it forever!

Well, I hope you enjoyed your stop by my little ol' blog and I hope that you click that "follow this blog" button so you can keep coming by! I like having you here :) ...and not in a creepy way...like in a  "oh, hey there friend I like your company" kind of way.

ummm...ya...soo...

I hope you have a great week!

November Currently!!

Hey there! I am here to link up, once again, with Farley for her November Currently!

Let's get rollin'!

Listening- I have been watching Bridesmaids (i took over the TV after the Husker game) waiting to blog! Yes, I am lame…deal with it! I love this movie! There are so many wonderful quotes!

Loving- OOO!! I am so excited to share this one! I have been asked to be apart of a brilliant collaborative blog with some amazing bloggers! When I first started blogging I dreamed of collaborating with other bloggers! It is truly a dream come true! I love where blogging has taken me! click the button below to check out this blog!

I will be posting there on Monday and would love for you to help me out! Tweet @megboxofcrayons with #askmegan with any questions you would like me to answer, I will pick 10 and answer them in my post on The Primary Pack!

Thinking- Well, it is a little hard to think with the loud grumbles coming from my stomach. Okay…so I am being a bit dramatic, but I am hungry…no, I'm HANGRY.

My fiancĂ© works some weird hours and tonight we had planned to have a sushi date night! I love going on dates with him, but man, waiting until he gets off work sometimes can be very difficult. I have been snacking on almonds and grapes, ya know, the healthy stuff that goes with my wedding diet.  I can't wait for our sushi date…if you're lucky I'll even post some pictures later!

Wanting- I feel like the leaves have changed and blown off the trees WAY too fast this year! Driving home from yoga today I didn't see any bright orange and red leaves anymore, instead I found sad, naked tree branches bending in the wind.  Naked trees make me sad…

Needing- To stick to my wedding diet. I have been doing a pretty good job of this, but it can be a real feat some days. I have thought about taping pictures of my wedding dress to my fridge, but I'm afraid it would backfire and I would eat everything in sight simply because there are those moments where you think you will never "look the way you want".  I'll keep on trucking and hopefully in this next month I will really nail it before my first fitting!

I think I can, I think I can, I think I can!

Reading- I have been working on reading one of my all time faves, "To Kill a Mockingbird". I have not made it very far, but I hope to have it finished before my wedding. That's a pretty lofty goal considering my wedding is in June.

Well folks, that's all I have for ya! Stay tuned for my post on The Primary Pack on Monday! Don't forget to tweet me your questions!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Holy Lobster Award! wait, no Liebster Award darn computer!

Hey there! I hope you are all having an amazing Monday! It has been cold and rainy here in Nebraska which has made me want to cuddle up with blankets and nap for days, but then I saw I was tagged by Tasha from Confessions of a Tiny Teacher for a Liebster Award! Needless to say, my day became a bit brighter!

What is this Liebster Award, you ask? Well, I did what any normal person would do and I googled this lovely award to give you an explanation. However, I am not the first person to google this nifty award…so, the best explanation I can give you is this (I made it up):

The Liebster award was created (by someone, duh) to introduce bloggers to readers and promote a bloggin' community (where we sit in circles and sing songs…literally…we teach, folks don't act like you haven't done it!). In all seriousness, it is a great way to discover new blogs (with less than 200, 250 or 3,000 followers…there were quiet a few discrepancies in the numbers) and some amazing people!

So, I graciously accept this amazing award which means I have some questions to answer from Tasha and you get to learn 11 random facts about me (now would be the time to run)…so get ready for some fun and lots of humor!

WOOHOO….Here we go!

Questions from Tasha:

1.  How long have you been teaching?
I have been teaching for 4 years, 3 of which have been in First Grade. I taught 4th grade for one year and loved everything except the fact that my students looked me in straight in the eye (I'm 5 ft. 3in of pure awesomeness) and they smelled funny sometimes, but I loved them all the same.

2.  What is your favorite subject to teach?

have 2 favorite subjects. One of my faves is Guided Reading…I love working with small groups of kiddos and teaching them to love books! My other favorite is Math, which may come as a shock to any of my old Elementary Teachers because I HATED…no…LOATHED Math each and every day. I hated it so much my stomach would toss and turn and I would often get sick. I struggled severely and later learned that I suffered from a learning disability called Dyscalculia (dyslexia with numbers and math processes)….SOOOOO I have made sure that NONE of my students suffer the way I did when it comes to Math! I love thinking outside the box and making math fun!

3.  What are 3 things you would say describe you?

Oh goodness, ummI guess if someone were to describe me in three words or "things" I would think/hope they would say that I am 1) Funny 2) Outgoing 3) Caring.

4.  What is the best thing about teaching, in your opinion?

The best thing about teaching, in my opinion, would have to be the fact that I get to make a difference everyday. I get to help children discover their potential and reach goals and dreams they never knew they could reach! I also love the kid quotesthey are pretty great!

5.  If you weren't a teacher, what other career would you have?

OOOOOOthis is a good one! Ihmmm……uhhhhhhhhhh.well, I guess could adopt a bunch of dogs and raise them! ORI could craftuhstuff and sell it! I really have no ideateaching is what I was made to do!

6.  What is your drink of choice?

Well, I feel like this is a loaded question! With me, it depends on the time of day. Anytime before 10 a.m. my drink of choice is coffee or tea. After 10a.m. its water and Dr. Pepper…and after 5 o'clock a sweet moscato/Riesling , bloody mary or any adult beverage will do!

7.  What kind of music do you like?

I like any kind of music I can sing with, dance to or a song that has well written lyrics. That's pretty much any genreright?

8.  What are your hobbies?

Umm…I think teaching is my hobby. I like to create things, but other than that I'm usually making jokes or procrastinating laundry/cleaning.

9.  Where is the best place you've ever traveled?

Disney World! YES I AM 5 AND I DON'T CARE! I LOVED DisneyI would love to make it back there someday! Hmmthink I can talk the Fiancé into a honeymoon to Disney?! I can be very persuasiveor demandingwhich ever way you want to look at it. HA!

 10.  What is your favorite food?

Um…my favorite food…is FOOD! I'm a total fat kid at heart. BUT if I have to pick a favorite it is definitely Chinese! Give me some Chicken and Broccoli with 3 (yes 3, I am particular) Cran Rangoon and I am one happy person.

11.  Morning or night person?

Well…let me put it this way...

I am a night owl. I love staying up late, but I also love my sleep. Once I have had my coffee I am close to functioning like a normal person, but I won't be wide awake until 10:00 am…at the earliest.

Now, 11 random facts about me…
1. My favorite color is blue.
2. I am allergic to metal which makes wearing jewelry difficult…no cheap jewelry for me.
3. I am obsessed with bags…purses, totes (lots of totes), duffle bags etc.
4. I used to run track and now I hate running for a workout (I was a sprinter..short distances are all I have the attention span for)
5. I have to know all of the lyrics to a song so I can sing with the radio.
6. I talk in movie quotes 85% of the time
7. I have terrible road rage…it's best when people don't drive around me :)
8. I am sleep with a stuffed Eeyore…yup…I'm 25 and sleep with an Eeyore DEAL WITH IT!
9. I only like to eat the tops of muffins…Seinfeld anyone?!

October Currently with a Trick AND a Treat!

Hey there! I am so excited that fall is finally here which also means that it's time to link up with Farley for here October Currently!

Let's get rollin'…

Listening- I am laid up on the couch thanks to my cold and I have been obsessed with Scandal…so I'm taking a break and watching How I Met Your Mother     …love it!

Loving- The fall weather! The fresh cool air, the cozy sweaters and, of course, EVERYTHING PUMPKIN SPICE! This is one happy white girl!
Thinking- My fall break is technically 2 weeks long, but I am only taking one, because I will be teaching an enrichment group of first and second graders about "Farm to Table".  I'm looking for fun, hands-on, project-based learning ideas for this and I have a million ideas running around. I have never done PBL lessons, so I'm super nervous on setting it up the right way. Do you have any helpful tips or hints?! I'm all ears!
Wanting- I have been fighting a stubborn cold the entire time I have been on break. Today, it has really knocked me on my butt…so my butt is staying on the couch. I am hoping that lots of naps and laying low will help me make it through my next week of teaching. **fingers crossed**
Needing- To sleep…yeah, remember all those ideas I told you were racing through my head? They have also been keeping me up (along with cold meds)…so, again, today will hopefully be filled with naps and cuddles from Kyle (my dog…not my fiancĂ©).
Trick or Treat- I'm doing BOTH! How can I just choose one!?

Here is my TRICK!

Nowadays we all have nifty smart phones and we also have students leaving our classroom at random times. I could not keep all of my students times straight, so I decided to set an alarm for each student or groups of students to help us all remember that they need to go! My kiddos love it because I let them choose a sound from my phone and I love it because it keeps us all on track!

So, give it a try and let me know how it goes!

And here is your TREAT!

Now, I do not have any "October" themed products simply because  I cannot use them in my classroom.  At my school we have a very high population of families that do not recognize birthdays, halloween, Christmas and quite a few other celebrations. So, I apologize for not having a halloween-ish item to share with you. Instead I have put the following items on sale until MONDAY (and if you go to my store you might find a surprise!) !!

Well folks, I think it's about time for me to take a nap and kick this cold! I hope you have a wonderful enjoyed your short stay here at my blog!

My first Fix..Stitch Fix, that is!

Hey there! Sooo….I have been watching all of my bloggy friends receive some awesome clothes from Stitch Fix…I did a little reading, explored my Pinterest Fashion boards and decided to try it out for myself and I'm here to share my experience with you!

If you are going, "Wait, what is Stitch Fix?"… let me help you. >The following statement was directly pulled from the Stitch Fix website<

"Stitch Fix is the first fashion retailer to blend expert styling, proprietary technology and unique product to deliver a shopping experience that is truly personalized for you. Simply fill out the Stitch Fix Style Profile and our personal stylists will handpick a selection of five clothing items and accessories unique to your taste, budget and lifestyle. You can buy what you like and return the rest!"

Sorry for the inserted comment, but why try to re-explain what it is when they have already done it!? ANYWHOO…I am here to share with you my VERY FIRST STITCH FIX! YAY!

WARNING: THIS IS MY FIRST STITCH FIX AND NOT EVERYTHING WAS EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED…but I do plan on ordering my next fix very soon, because they really got my overall style…now, to just continue with my wedding diet and all will be good! HA!

Today my first Stitch Fix arrived and I could not wait to see what was in this awesome box!  Now, I was really skeptical about the clothes I would get…I wondered if they would fit or if they would even be what I was looking for, but I WAS SO WRONG!! I AM IN LOVE WITH STITCH FIX!

Here…see for yourself!

The first item out of my box was this nifty little blouse! It had a black appliquĂ© back and was SUPER comfy. I, however, didn't feel like it looked super great on me (ya know…girl body image issues…we all have them) so, I sent this one back…but it's okay because there was more!

Next was this adorable army green jacket! I LOVED it (excuse the weird face)! The only problem was my chest region (it can be a blessing and a curse)…so I sadly sent this jacket back too.  I really wish I could have kept this, but I know I can find something similar that will fit my "chesticles"(a word I made up…it may be inappropriate, but hey..we are all adults here).

Okay…so one awesome thing about Stitch Fix is that you can ask for specific pieces for upcoming events.  For instance, I have a ton of weddings coming up this year and I need some dresses that I can wear to all of them. So, I asked for my stylist to look for a dress that would work for school and for a wedding…and maybe a few date nights here and there.  My stylist sent me this adorable little number and I loved everything about it….expect when it was on me (again…more body image problems). So…this cute little thing went back too, but hey…it's my first fix…they aren't going to get everything right the first time.

Finally, I found these super soft boyfriend skinnies at the bottom of my box!  I know this may not be the greatest angle, but I LOVE THEM! You better believe I kept these awesome jeans and I'm planning on breaking them out this weekend for the Husker game! WOOT WOOT!

There was also a super long necklace, but again…when you have a large chest region…awkwardly long necklaces just don't work.

So, there ya have it (whether you wanted it or not) you saw my very first stitch fix and got to know me a little bit better. Again…maybe you got to know me a little more than you wanted too, but oh well!

If you have been wondering about Stitch Fix, go and check it out for yourself! You don't have to sign up for your first fix right away…you can definitely explore the idea for a few days, hours or minutes…whatever! It really is pretty nifty and I can't wait to sign up for my next one!

I hope you enjoyed your stop here and feel free to follow me on Instagram or Twitter!

Have a great weekend!
